Lucky Mizu invites guests into a multisensory dining experience that blends Japanese culinary tradition with theatrical design. Located at Level 8 DTLA, an eclectic hospitality concept developed by Houston Hospitality and Lightstone within the Moxy and AC Marriott hotel tower, this venue redefines immersive dining in Downtown Los Angeles.
Designed to evoke the feeling of dining inside a music box, Lucky Mizu features a 40-foot Earth Harp that transforms the space into a resonant instrument. One of its most iconic features is a full-height wall lined with golden maneki-neko, the traditional Japanese lucky cats, welcoming diners with a playful and unmistakable cultural gesture. Guests explore the art of cooking through select preparations, surrounded by cherry blossoms and butterfly infinity mirrors.
At Oniric Arquitectura, we collaborated with Undisclosable Inc., the lead firm, on the interior design and FF&E, supporting the project from early phases through construction administration. Our scope included bespoke furniture and immersive design strategies that enhance the spatial narrative and amplify the venue’s theatrical atmosphere.
Together, these design solutions create a dynamic environment that engages the senses on multiple levels, making Lucky Mizu one of Level 8’s most evocative and memorable venues.
